The Process: Custom Design

Part one- Getting to know you.
This information is used to help me to design the perfect piece!

* Tell me about who will be wearing or receiving this piece.
What do they like, what do they do for fun and work?

*  Do you have ideas about how you want the piece to look?

* Sizes!  This is a biggie.  I will need to know things like ring size, bracelet or necklace length and approximately what size stones you would like.

The nitty-gritty.

* What is your budget?
A custom ring in 14k gold will start around $1,500.
Stone sizes and shapes, and the intricacy of the design will affect the price.

* What is the timeframe?
I generally expect 6-8 weeks from our initial discussion (part one) until the completion of the piece.  Finding the perfect stone can sometimes take a bit of time.
A rush is considered under 5 weeks and may incur an extra rush fee.

Part two- Design Time! (Oooh, fun!)
I will start by sketching out some ideas.

* Once I have a few ideas on paper, I like to be able to click a quick photo and text ideas to you.
However, if this piece will be a surprise, let me know the best way to contact you!

* Next, you get to tell me which direction to go from the sketches.  From here, I can change things, add details and create estimates.

Part three- Let’s get this going!

* Once you decide on a design and choose stone(s), I ask for a 40% deposit.  When the deposit is received, I will begin by ordering materials.

* Expect 3-4 weeks from the deposit date for the job to be complete.
This time includes ordering materials, shipping, fabrication, polishing, and taking some photos!
For some more complicated designs that will not allow for easy sizing, I may request that you to try a piece on while it is in progress to make sure it fits the way you want.
(Consider it a sneak peek!)
