About

What do you love about wearing jewelry?

Is it how a ring slides smoothly onto your finger?
Or do you love to play with that ring, spinning it around while you listen excitedly to your friend telling a story of their recent weekend adventures?
When the light hits is just right, does a beautifully colored stone capture your attention and make you smile?

Do you shrug and sigh contentedly when the pearls, feeling cold, are clasped behind your neck, each time remembering how they feel once they warm up?

I hope that wearing jewelry bring you joy.

Hi!  I'm Catherine.

In my head, I watch myself draw and construct.
Almost like a dream, but I am consciously orchestrating each move.
When I begin to design a piece of jewelry or a miniature sculpture, I think about how the pieces will all go together.

I replay ideas
. altering them to work better
. to be more precise
. to make more sense

I think about how different parts will move
. how light will play off of different surfaces
. how you will wear or interact with the piece

There are so many images in my head for playful pieces of fine art jewelry that include
. a little bit of movement
. a little bit of color
. a whole lot of joy.

Some pieces are for you to wear everyday- for the beauty of it.
Some pieces you want to wear for that fancy event coming up.
Some pieces… well, you might organize a gala just to have an excuse to wear them!

Moments evolve and one action leads to the next.
I started out playing, literally, when I was a child with copper wire. I was learning it's limits.  Learning how to move and manipulate it.
Copper led to silver which led to art school, which put me in the right place to watch the sun rise and glitter on Casco Bay in Maine while I worked

to learn from some incredible jewelers
. with post-it note diagrams
. wise words of advice
. and some pretty rocking studio music

Time marched on, and when I had my first child, I altered course.  The more intricate designs I once made were replaced with a new design challenge;  what can I make that is beautiful, that will not leave me covered in dirty dust from metal and polish so that I can stop at any moment to pick up and comfort a baby.
So came my Favorite Spirals earring collection.
Now my youngest is no longer a baby.
The spark to design and create fun, more intricate pieces is back and brighter than before.
I find joy in watching other peoples’s faces light up when they see my jewelry and interact with it.
I want to get to know you.
What makes your eyes sparkle and turn your lips into a smile.
